Based on retail prices published in Kuwait, the equipment alone for a small IP system can start from about 135 KWD for four cameras, while examples for 8 cameras reach about 220–510 KWD and for 16 cameras about 515–1,050 KWD, depending on the camera model, recorder and storage. These are not installed prices: cabling, labour, a UPS, networking and the total storage you need are priced per site. Establishments covered by Kuwait’s CCTV law must design for at least 120 continuous days of recordings, which can raise the storage and the cost considerably.
What drives the price of a CCTV system?
- Number of cameras and their resolution (2 MP, 4 MP or 4K). Higher resolution needs more storage.
- Recording days: at the same bitrate, 30 days needs about 4.3 times the storage of 7 days. The real figure depends on resolution, frame rate, compression and whether recording is continuous or on motion.
- Indoor or outdoor: outdoor cameras need weatherproof housings and often night vision for long distances.
- Cabling: distances, false ceilings, conduits and heights change the labour a lot.
- Brand and recorder (NVR) size, and whether you want viewing on your phone.
How long must CCTV recordings be kept in Kuwait?
At least 120 continuous days for establishments covered by the CCTV law, with no changes or deletion during that time (Law 61/2015, restated by Decree-Law 76/2026).
Law No. 61 of 2015 on security cameras already required recordings to be kept for 120 days. In 2026, Decree-Law No. 76 of 2026 restated Article 5: every establishment covered by the law must keep recordings for no less than 120 continuous days, and may not change, erase, delete or process them during that time. After this minimum, an establishment may set its own longer retention to suit its activity and size, as long as it does not conflict with the security or regulatory requirements of the competent authority. The Ministry of Interior also sets the technical specifications and the places, points and number of cameras for each type of establishment, so confirm your activity’s classification and your site’s requirements before choosing the recorder and storage.

Ask every installer to quote on the same basis: number of cameras, model and resolution, frame rate, compression, continuous or motion recording, retention days, the size and number of disks, the recorder, cabling, warranty and maintenance.
